News - Veqa Image Resizer Version 1.0.2 Released

October 17, 2006

An update to Veqa Image Resizer has been released titled as version 1.0.2 today. This is an important fix update involving some changes, bug fixes, and some features. The highlight feature of this update is the ability to change to either GD or ImageMagick MagickWand for PHP on the fly via the URL parameter of "use=". However, there are are quite a bit of other things in this update to make everything pretty much altogether the main highlight in itself.

Veqa Image Resizer is the oldest of our products that have not been updated for a while. This is a bigger fix release than the last update that was released for it back in March. This release is also the first after our all-in-one solution that was released as Veqa ImageFly. Of course, Veqa ImageFly itself and the others will follow suit to this update as well.

Another feature, but a minor feature that has been added is the ability to change the quality of JPG images. This can be done in the configuration and sets for both GD and MagickWand. And transparency has been done for PNG images in GD. And a bit of fixes also has been made to make the software more compatible with PHP 4.3.

I should not forget to mention though, there is a feature implemented in this that actually deals with resizing. A small feature, but makes for more manipulation in resizing. This is the ability to change the width or height only. For example, if setting a width of 100 pixels and the image is 350 x 400, then this will make it 100 x 400.

Also in related to resizing, however, not a feature, but a simple change. This is important to know if you have a previous version of Veqa Image Resizer and want to get this update. The "size=" parameter value no longer is in the form of "123x123" and is now seperated by a comma instead - for example: "123,123". The "x" seperator is problematic for future ideas we have for this product, so see this as just preparation.

There are other things still in this update along with the software being a bit more compatible with PHP 4.3 by bug fixes. See the version changes page for this product on its Web site to get more details.
