News - Veqa ImageFly Version 1.0.1 Released

July 16, 2006

Veqa ImageFly has been updated to version 1.0.1 with some added features and bug fixes. The top highlight of this update is the ability to change to 6 modes for different order processing of Resize, Mark, and Effects. This makes it so that you can choose to have the mark resized along with the image, or having effects applied to it, or both, or leave it at default with no changes to the mark. Here is a listing of the 6 modes that you are able to change to:

  • 1. Resize > Effects > Mark (Default)
  • 2. Effects > Mark > Resize
  • 3. Resize > Mark > Effects
  • 4. Mark > Resize > Effects
  • 5. Effects > Resize > Mark (1)
  • 6. Mark > Effects > Resize (4)

Mode 1 is the default and has been used for the previous version of Veqa ImageFly. The other 5 though are new and providing you the ability so that you can process the mark differently than the default mode. However, mode 5 and 6 are not that different to the first 4. Mode 5 is similiar to mode 1, and mode 6 is similiar to mode 4. So, the first 4 are the ones that would be the most useful for different order processing.

With the default mode 1 and mode 5, Resize, Mark, and Effects are processed in a common order most users would use. Mode 2 resizes the image after the mark has been applied rather than before it. Mode 3 applies effects to the image after the mark has been applied, but keeps resizing after. Mode 4 and 6 though applies both resizing and effects to the image after the mark has been applied.

But another highlight of the version update is an important bug fix. The bug of this was unnoticed during developement on the previous version. This bug wasn't really expected, but apparently something was overlooked. And it just happens to be quite a serious bug, too - not majorly serious, but pretty serious.

This only affected GD image drawing though and not ImageMagick MagickWand for PHP. Neither did it affect most of GD either. It mostly was in concern to GD with PHP Version < 5. The bug caused improper display problems with the combination of a mark and either colorize, grayscale, invert, brightness, or 100% contrast used. It wouldn't keep the mark's original color or transparency, and have the color similiar to the effect being used and transparent pixels replaced with white color.

Colorize, grayscale, invert, and brightness only affected GD with PHP Version < 5. But 100% contrast affected all PHP versions that were to be supported with Veqa ImageFly. Colorize, grayscale, invert, and brightness was fine with PHP Version > 5 with GD Bundled. And as previously stated, all was fine with ImageMagick MagickWand for PHP (which most of the times doesn't seem like much of a surprise, anyway).

And there's still more to list here for the update, however, not that important in comparison to the above two. Another thing that was included in the update was a minor feature addition supplying the ability to toggle Resize, Mark, or Effects with a checkbox on the Veqa ImageFly interface. Not much, but it's useful nonetheless. This should of been in the previous version though.

And the last thing of this update was a simple, minor, styling change. Probably not worthy enough to mention, but what the hey. Headings for the functions of Resize, Mark, and Effects had their colors changed from black to "Resize" being blue, "Mark" being red, and "Effects" being green. It's probably obvious on why those colors, since those colors also reflect the coloring in the logo of Veqa Image Resizer, Veqa Image Marker, and Veqa Image Effects.

So, there you have it - those are the updates made for Veqa ImageFly version 1.0.1. We hope that some of the updates may further your interest in our product. And if you already have a previous version of the product, don't forget that we provide free updates for download by contacting Veqa Support.
