Latest News: Veqa ImageFly 1.5 Released
December 25, 2007
Veqa ImageFly 1.5 has come and it's not only improved on-the-fly, it's more than on-the-fly. At the start of this year 2007 we made an announcement Veqa ImageFly 1.5 was in the works and we personally aimed to have the project done before the end of this year. However, we didn't realize we'd still be working on it all the way to the end of 2007. It's been a very long year with all that has gone on.
We're very pleased, despite many interferences endured of the year, we finally have completed our most cherished product. We made it for us, but just as well for all of you. It was a long road to travel making our way to deliver something better and more enhanced than previous versions. With this new version release we bring you a sight of our emerging innovations in image manipulation and a vision of where we're directing our work towards the future.
We want to create new and better methods - methods that are easier, quicker, and more powerful. And with the release of Veqa ImageFly 1.5, we give you all kinds of improvements to help with manipulating images and most especially for on the fly. The new release brings a lot more functionality in comparison to our first version and with a cleaner and more appealing interface. Speaking of which, is now more compatible with IE7, as it wasn't present before then.
The number one key thing of 1.5 developed is its class, which contains all the functions of the software in an organized and useful manner. The class can be used to create your own custom made image tools where you can do your own thing if the software's interface does not suffice for your needs. The class contains functions for image manipulation and for getting image information, but as well some extra things that may also prove useful in relation to images. This was one of the most worked on features of the software and the biggest coded file, but well worth the time and made working on the software itself easier.
Caching has also been added, and although while the class is bigger than what took place with caching, caching did in fact take the most work in the software. Caching provides the ability to make on-the-fly work faster, spending less time processing. However, needing more disk space involved to store the cache, but can be adjusted to suit your needs if you feel you do not need much disk space for it, and in return, overall, does still save disk space, as it is only temporary. And on top of that, an innovation by us, the cache gallery, enables you to view previously cached manipulated images, which you can also preview the query done by mouse-overing the image.
Saving files is another method provided besides getting images on the fly or by class. And some other innovative features included for on-the-fly besides the cache gallery are query order sensitivity and multiple instancing, which makes on-the-fly image manipulation a lot more flexible than its ever been before. And plus, the software also includes password protection supporting multiple logins so that you can keep the interface protected - especially for file saving. As from previous versions, it supports the processors GD and ImageMagick MagickWand for PHP, but this time around it now also supports ImageMagick by command-line, totaling 3 processors for you to choose from to manipulate images with.
We went all out with resizing including the ability to resize by not only percentage, but inches, centimeters, millimeters, points, or picas as well. And not only that, but we have even devised a calculation system for resizing to get other unique sizes by adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, randomizing, or limiting. And if that's not enough, we researched throughly, organized and arranged a total of 82 preset sizes for you to choose from for resizing. So, if you want a standard wallpaper size that most people use, just input the term "wallpaper", or for avatars, input the term "avatar", and so on.
As for marking images - popularly known for watermarking - marking went through roughly the same deal as resizing went through in this update. There's the percentage, inches, centimeters, adding, subtracting, randomizing, etc, which just as well adds more to how images are marked. And, yes, it, too, has presets - basically, 40 presets, however, not as colorful as the presets for resizing, as positions are not necessarily as interesting as sizes, but in a similar manner, nonetheless, are indeed useful just the same. And as previously noted with multiple instancing, yes, you can even mark images multiple times just as well, and you can mark animations, too - just as long as ImageMagick is installed.
Last but not least, effects underwent an effective transformation overnight also. Now wielding some new effects: wave, swirl, shear, sepia, tint, sharpen more, and blur more. Effects have been made less limited in functionality being a bit more free now so that you can work out, for example, both invert and grayscale at the same time. And also, just like with marking, multiple instancing for effects, too, is very useful in this field as well, or even query order sensitivity you will find to be quite useful likewise. For effects with coloring, such as colorize and the background for rotating upon, we have also supplied color presets containing 139 colors for you to invision upon with all the colors of the rainbow, and then some.
That about wraps it up for this update announcement - at least in general. However, there is still much more left unmentioned that you may want to discover for yourself at the product's demo page.
